Yesterday marked the online premiere of my short film I Got This, a 22-minute comedy I wrote, directed, and took around to film festivals for much of 2018 and early 2019.
It won some awards and is being featured on a few prominent sites for short films, and is now free for all to watch by clicking on the video below!
I previously blogged about the making of the film, and if you’re interested, you could also check out its website and maybe even follow the film on Facebook.
It was a wonderful experience to make and I’m thrilled that it’s finally out for the world to see!
Loved it!
Awesome. Absolutely loved it! Everything you coach us on was present (surprise) 🙂 I was hooked the whole time and rooting for Chris! Thank you for sharing, Erik.
Just wanted to say I thoroughly enjoyed ‘I Got This’. It’s been over a week since I watched it and to my surprise I still think about it everyday and wonder what the parents are doing now. Did they stay just friends? Did they eventually get married? Are they happy? Very well done!!!!
If I may though, and this may be because I don’t understand the conventions of short films, the one thing that distracted me from really really enjoying the film was that it felt like the characters were living in a vacuum. Parking lots were empty. Streets were empty. Only the coffee shop had people in it. The park they stopped at wasn’t full of children. It felt like they were living in a ghost town. Again, it could have been so that it didn’t distract from the story or for other reasons, but I found it stopped me from entering into that ‘willing suspension of disbelief’.
Of course that wouldn’t stop me from sharing your short with my family and friends.
Thank you!!!
Yeah I probably should have sprung for more “extras” (background actors) for some of those scenes. Just a budget issue really!
Thanks so much for the nice comment!!
